Hard at work still getting Sig ready for a shot at IGP2... Been a long while coming and loads still to tidy up from her 1, but shes got a 3 in her somewhere and just cant wait to get her best work shown on the trial field! ...
Decoy training day today and putting in some work to tidy up my drive. Always fun going to war like this! ...
Another big weekend completed and first time around the Fan Dance SAS selection route without Sig who was enjoying a rest at home.
I love booking this event in January as you can always count on the weather to add a bit of adversity and make for a memorable day out in the hills.
Working with high drive, powerful dogs and especially decoying, its so important to make sure physical fitness remains a priority. An annual blast around the Fan Dance gives me an unmoving benchmark that ensures physical capability never drops too far without being highlighted in the most brutal fashion!
Big thanks to @jameshannphotography for capturing the best shot of the day and my favourite fan dance photo to date!

Happy Christmas from Snakeshead K9. Hope everyone is enjoying the break and making the most of the time with their dogs. For those working the festive period, stay warm, stay safe, and make the most of the festive food on the downtime 🫡 ...
More and more “science-based” dog training is starting to look less like science and more like religion.
Not a system built to develop confident, capable dogs that perform under real-world pressure, but a belief structure that isn’t to be questioned.
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.”
2 Corinthians 5:7
At this point, me and Sig are considering going fully faith-based.
“Blessed be the Lord, my rock, who trains my hands for war and my fingers for battle.”
Psalm 144:1

A huge win this year has been working with @cotswoldk9_ to get Sigs social stability nailed. Genetically shes from pretty civil lines with a very low social tolerance, impulsive and tonnes of drive. When she does dexide to act, its with full commitment!
Ace on the sports field but a headache that needs careful management off it!
I`d always been a bit careful of flooding as when things goes wrong with Mals it tends to be intense. Lottie has been ace guiding us through a process she knows very well and the week on week improvements have been jumps of 40-50% improvement. Not little incrimental wins and a management plan!
Lesson learnt, give the dog a bit more credit for its ability to work through pressure and adapt!

Still a few little flinches at the gunshot but a world of difference since she used to shut down and disengage. Training with it in my off-hand so hopefully by the time its the next trial, a gunshot 50m away shouldnt be an issue 🙏🏼🙏🏼 ...
